In aniticipation of the May 1st immigration demonstrations, Littler's Neil Alexander provides employers with advice on how to deal with demonstrating employees. He advises that "employers talk with workers in advance, and offer time off on a first-come, first-served basis. Workers who take time off without permission could face disciplinary action up to firing," he said, "but that may not be practical for employers who depend heavily on immigrant workers."
