LOS ANGELES, CA (March 21, 2014) – Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has selected shareholder Judy Iriye for the 2014 Fellows Program of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD), a national organization comprised of the legal profession’s top general counsel and managing partners. The Fellows Program is a year-long, professional development leadership training course designed to increase diversity at the leadership levels of the nation’s law firms and corporate legal departments by connecting diverse high-potential attorneys from member organizations with leaders in the legal field.
“We are proud that Judy has been chosen for this prestigious program,” said Los Angeles Office Managing Shareholder Robert S. Blumberg. “Her demonstrated leadership skills combined with her impressive track record made her an excellent candidate for Fellow. This program will only further enhance her already outstanding reputation as a practitioner. We congratulate Judy and wish her continued success throughout her career.”
Nominated exclusively by LCLD member organizations, Fellows are mid-career attorneys who have distinguished themselves within their corporation or law firm as emerging leaders and have a career history reflecting strong substantive performance. Over the course of the year-long Fellowship, each honoree will embark on a learning program that includes in-person conferences, virtual training on the legal practice, peer-group projects to foster collaboration and build relationships and extensive contact with LCLD’s top leadership along with managing partners and general counsel who volunteer to discuss professional experiences and setbacks at Fellows Program Learning Experiences and Leadership Lunches.
“Our Fellows program is a unique learning experience designed to empower a new generation of lawyers,” said Brad Smith, LCLD Chair and Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Microsoft Corporation. “These talented individuals have been singled out for leadership by their organizations and represent a broad spectrum of backgrounds that are as diverse as the country they serve.”
Iriye’s practice at Littler focuses on the representation of employers in a wide range of labor and employment law matters, including the defense of wrongful discharge actions, claims of sexual harassment, employment discrimination and wage and hour class action claims. Active in a number of professional organizations, she is a member of the Santa Monica Rotary Club, the Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Japanese American Bar Association. She is also currently interning with the Board of Trustees of UCLA UniCamp. Iriye has been named a Rising Star by Los Angeles Lawyer Magazine in 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011. She received her A.B. from Harvard Radcliffe College cum laude and her J.D. from the University of California Los Angeles School of Law.
