Rod Fliegel and Jennifer Mora provide perspective on California Assembly Bill 22 (AB 22), a bill that would block employers from conducting credit checks during the hiring process, and provide information on what both employers and human resources managers need to know about the legislation. Fliegel and Mora write, “If Gov. Brown signs AB 22, employers operating in California and using consumer credit reports for employment purposes should evaluate whether they are subject to Labor Code §1024.5, and if so, which provisions, if any, they can invoke to justify the screening.”
