Anthony Ly represents and advises employers in virtually every aspect of employment law. Anthony focuses on defending employers in high-stakes class actions and representative actions, including lawsuits seeking civil penalties under California’s Labor Code Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA).  Anthony has extensive experience defending wage and hour claims for clients in a broad range of industries, with particular emphasis on the hospitality, medical, retail, transportation, correctional, and entertainment industries. In recent years, Anthony has represented numerous “gig economy” companies against claims of independent contractor misclassification.   

Anthony has extensive experience drafting and enforcing arbitration agreements. He has successfully enforced countless arbitration agreements for employers before state and federal courts at the trial and appellate levels. Anthony utilizes his extensive knowledge of the Federal Arbitration Act to enforce class action waivers in arbitration agreements and he frequently obtains the dismissal of class action claims for employers.  

Anthony is also experienced in defending employers in lawsuits alleging wrongful termination, retaliation, discrimination, and harassment under the California Fair Employment and Housing Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and the California Family Rights Act.    

Prior to joining Littler Mendelson, Anthony was an associate at another firm, where he represented and counseled public sector employers in all areas of labor and employment. While at ULCA, Anthony served as articles editor for the Asian Pacific American Law Journal. He also served as an extern for the Hon. Daniel Preciado, administrative law judge at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
