COLUMBIA, S.C. (September 29, 2016) – Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, welcomes Matt Brown as Of Counsel. Brown, formerly of Collins & Lacy, P.C., will divide his time between Littler’s Columbia, South Carolina, and Charlotte, North Carolina, offices.

“Matt, a native Charlottean, has deep roots in both the Columbia and Charlotte markets, and has significant experience representing clients throughout the state of South Carolina. He is a valuable addition to our team,” said J. René Toadvine, office managing shareholder of the Columbia and Charlotte offices.

Brown has broad experience in employment and administrative law matters. His practice includes representing clients from a wide range of industries, including governmental entities and municipalities, colleges and universities, and domestic and international corporations. He has appeared in federal and state courts  defending clients against claims and disputes arising under the Americans with Disabilities Act, Title VII and 42 U.S.C. § 1983. Brown also advises employers on issues related to the Family Medical Leave Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, and hiring, performance management and termination.

Active in the community, Brown is a member of the Employment and Labor Law Section of the South Carolina Bar, the Young Lawyers Division of the South Carolina Bar and the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Educational Association, and formerly served on the South Carolina Bar’s Education Law Committee. He has also pursued volunteer work with the Kiwanis Club, Little League baseball, Project H.E.L.P. and the Special Olympics.

Brown earned his J.D. from Charleston School of Law and his B.A. from the University of South Carolina.
