HOUSTON (May 25, 2016) – Yvette Gatling, a shareholder in the Houston office of Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has been appointed to the board of directors of the National Employment Law Council (NELC).
“I’m honored to be joining my distinguished colleagues on the board,” said Gatling, who served on the Council’s program committee. “And I look forward to collaborating with them on advancing the agenda of NELC.”
Littler Shareholder Grady Murdock, a founding member of the organization, was on the board until he recently stepped down, and Anthony Hall, office managing shareholder for Littler’s Orlando office, is currently on the board. Littler Shareholder Vicki Phipps previously served on the program committee.
NELC advocates on behalf of minority attorneys domestically and abroad who represent management in labor and employment issues. Littler has been a long-time supporter of its annual conference, an advanced program for attorneys and senior-level human resources professionals.
A Littler attorney for more than a decade, Gatling defends corporate clients against claims of discrimination, wage/hour violations or wrongful discharge. She also counsels clients in union avoidance, reductions in force and compliance audits. She frequently works with companies in the financial services and oil and gas industries.
Gatling was selected in 2012 as a fellow with the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Houston Bar Association, the Houston Lawyers Association and Littler’s Diversity & Inclusion Council. She received her J.D. from Louisiana State University and her B.A. from North Carolina State University.
