Indianapolis, IN (May 7, 2012) – Littler Mendelson, P.C. (Littler), the nation’s largest employment and labor law firm representing management, has named Alan McLaughlin office managing shareholder of its Indianapolis office. McLaughlin succeeds Todd Nierman, who founded the firm’s Indianapolis office and will now focus on his active and diverse labor and employment practice at Littler.

McLaughlin represents public and private employers in a broad range of employment-related disputes at the administrative, state and federal levels, including before the United States Supreme Court and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. He has substantial experience in the areas of discrimination; class actions; wage and hour collective actions; arbitrations and emergency proceedings involving non-compete agreements, trade secrets, business torts and contracts.
He has also participated in hundreds of mediations dealing with a range of labor and employment issues. Additionally, McLaughlin provides counsel and preventative training to clients to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
Earning national recognition for his legal skills, McLaughlin was named by Chambers USA as one of America’s Leading Lawyers for Business; one of the Best Lawyers in America in 2012; and a Super Lawyer for Employment Litigation – Indiana for nine consecutive years. He has also received the AV Peer Review rating by Martindale-Hubbell.
McLaughlin is an active member of the Indiana State Bar Association and is a pro bono representative for the Mediation Assistance Program for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. He received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School in 1982 and his A.B. from Wabash College in 1979.
