(April 16, 2019) – Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has been named a “2019 Top Ten Firm for Gender Equity” by Yale Law Women (YLW). YLW produces the Top Ten Report to monitor trends in gender equity and family friendliness among Vault 100 ranked law firms, raise awareness of disparities within the legal profession, highlight progress being made in the industry, and identify areas for improvement.
“It is an honor to once again be recognized by Yale Law Women for our culture that prioritizes inclusivity and collaboration,” said Tom Bender and Jeremy Roth, co-managing directors of Littler, in a joint statement. “At Littler, we are committed to further enhancing opportunities for the firm’s women and diverse attorneys to achieve partnership and leadership positions. Littler continues to invest in a variety of programs and resources to help realize that goal, and we are proud to report that over half of our attorneys are women.”
In addition to the Top Ten list, YLW also recognized Littler for superior performance in the following categories:
- At Least 50% of Associates Are Women
- At Least 25% of Equity Partners Are Women
- Highest Percentage of Associates on Part-Time Schedules
To compile the list, YLW surveyed firms on the 2019 Vault Top 100 Law Firms list. YLW collected data on family accommodations and parental leave, as well as indicators of gender equity including partnership promotions and composition of leadership committees. In addition to examining formal policies available at law firms, the survey also investigated how firms implemented those policies and their usage by attorneys.
Littler develops and retains women and diverse attorneys at every level through several programs and initiatives, including its award-winning Career Advocacy Program, Investment for Success Program and Women's Leadership Initiative. In addition, Littler’s female attorneys participate in their legal, business and civic communities, championing causes important to the firm, such as women’s advancement, diversity and inclusion, and innovation in the delivery of legal services.
Over the past year, Littler has earned several significant awards and recognitions for its diversity initiatives and inclusive culture – such as being ranked on The American Lawyer’s Diversity Scorecard and named one of the Best Firms for Women and Minority Attorneys by Law360 in its Glass Ceiling report. Littler also achieved Mansfield Certification Plus status from Diversity Lab, was certified as a "Gold Standard Firm" by the Women in Law Empowerment Forum and ranked a top law firm by Working Mother magazine and Vault.
