(July 16, 2019) – Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has once again been named among the “Best Law Firms for Women” by Working Mother magazine for the tenth time. Littler is one of 60 firms recognized for its best practices in the recruitment, retention, promotion and development of women lawyers. Additionally, Littler is one of 17 firms that will be inducted into Working Mother’s inaugural Hall of Fame – a recognition for firms that have been on the list for 10 or more years.
“It is gratifying to be included on Working Mother’s list for the tenth time,” Tom Bender and Jeremy Roth, co-managing directors of Littler, said in a joint statement. “At Littler, women represent over 50 percent of our attorney workforce and their advancement is a priority for us. We are proud to have female representation at all levels of the firm and we are committed to cultivating and enhancing opportunities for women to progress and succeed both professionally and personally.”
Littler offers a number of programs and initiatives that support the advancement of women and diverse attorneys. Through its Women's Leadership Initiative (WLI), the firm focuses on developing and retaining women leaders at every level of the firm. In addition, the firm’s award-winning Career Advocacy Program (CAP) has been instrumental in advancing women from the associate to shareholder level.
Littler also offers a number of benefits that support working mothers, including: a parental leave program, back-up child and elder care, a reduced hours schedule and a breast milk delivery service for business-traveling mothers who are nursing.
“It’s heartening to see the progress women lawyers are making at firms committed to fully utilizing these attorneys’ abilities,” said Meredith Bodgas, editor-in-chief of Working Mother. “The war for talent is increasing incentives for law firms to invest in retaining women lawyers, which is why we’re seeing more women’s initiatives and parental-support groups. By highlighting what our top firms are doing, we hope others in the legal community will follow.”
As a result of its efforts, Littler continues to be recognized by organizations such as Law360, American Lawyer and Vault, which have ranked Littler a top firm in diversity for women. Over the past year, the firm also earned Mansfield Certification Plus status from Diversity Lab, was named a top firm for gender equity by Yale Law Women and received Gold Standard Certification from the Women in Law Empowerment Forum.
Littler recognizes women at the firm who serve as inspirations every day in a video that can be viewed here.
