NEWARK, NJ (June 15, 2011) – Littler Mendelson, P.C. (Littler), the nation's largest employment and labor law firm representing management, announced today the addition of Ivan R. Novich to the firm. Novich, an experienced litigator, will be a shareholder in Littler's Newark, NJ office.
Novich was formerly a Counsel in the Litigation Management Department of Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge's (EAPD) Madison, NJ office. For nearly seven years, he was National Employment Counsel for The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc., its subsidiaries and affiliate companies, including but not limited to PNC Bank, National Association; PNC Investments LLC; PNC Mortgage; and PNC Global Investment Servicing Inc. He also represented other financial institutions and firms, such as Bank of America Corporation; Bank of America, National Association; Banc of America Securities LLC as well as Bank of New York Mellon. Novich has represented these financial institutions and firms in federal and state courts across the country in a broad array of employment-related cases, including wrongful discharge, disparate treatment (race, age, sex, disability, sexual orientation, etc.), retaliation, whistleblower, hostile work environment, failure to accommodate, implied contract, defamation, wage and hour, FINRA arbitration and restrictive covenant cases.
Novich is an experienced trial lawyer, having tried and won numerous jury and bench trials. Some of Novich's most recent trial victories include Spencer v. National City Bank, et al. (Southern District of Ohio 2010); Miller v. PNC Bank, N.A., et al. (Southern District of Ohio 2010) and Long v. The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. (Court Of Common Pleas, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania 2008). Each of these cases involved week-long jury trials with formidable opposing counsel representing the plaintiffs, who made high six-figure settlement demands immediately prior to the start of the trial.
In addition to his trial experience, Novich has prevailed on numerous summary judgment motions and appeals, which—among others—include Davenport v. Albridge Solutions, Inc., et al. (Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals 2011); Daisley v. Riggs Bank, N.A. (Court of Appeals for D.C. Circuit 2008); Foley v. Kyocera Mita America, Inc. A-4262-02T3 (N.J. App. Div. 2004); Antonacci v. Antonacci, 273 A.D.2d 185, 709 N.Y.S.2d 432 (App. Div. 2nd Dept. 2000); and McAllister v. Resorts Intern. Hotel & Casino, 299 N.J. Super. 1999 (App. Div. 1997).
Novich received his LL.M. in Trial Advocacy from Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law, his J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law and B.A. from Rutgers College, cum laude. Novich also is a graduate of the University of Virginia National Trial Advocacy College and the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. He is admitted to practice in federal and state courts in New Jersey and New York as well as a number of other federal courts throughout the country.
