WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 08, 2015) – Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, today announced its participation in the Washington legal community’s annual fundraising campaign, Food from the Bar, in partnership with the Capital Area Food Bank. Littler joins 45 teams comprised of law firms, law schools and legal organizations competing to raise food for the campaign, with the ultimate goal of raising $200,000 to help the food bank reach those at risk of hunger in the Washington metro area.
“Giving back to our community at large remains an important initiative for the firm,” said Alison N. Davis, managing shareholder of Littler’s Tysons Corner and Washington, D.C. offices. “We are proud to once again be joining Food from the Bar in this rewarding campaign to help those in need.”
The seventh and largest effort to date, this year’s Food from the Bar campaign will be held from May 1, 2015–May 29, 2015. Since 2008, the Washington legal community has raised enough to support the equivalent of 1 million meals. With every $10 raised, the food bank can distribute 25 meals to individuals in need. Ninety-two cents out of every dollar donated supports local hunger relief programs.
Commenting on the legal community’s involvement in the month-long campaign, Nancy E. Roman, CAFB President and CEO, said, “When school ends, thousands of kids who rely on school lunch programs miss a critical source of nutrition. Our goal is to raise $200,000 to provide 500,000 meals to children, families, and seniors at risk of hunger in the metro area.”
