(December 6, 2016) – Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, was once again recognized among the top 25 innovative law firms in the Financial Times North America Innovative Lawyers report for 2016.
Littler’s Big Data Initiative received the top ranking in the “Data, Analytics & Intelligence” category based on its efforts to create data analytics services for clients that guide human resources decisions and reduce the risk of future legal disputes. In addition, Dr. Zev J. Eigen, Littler’s Global Director of Data Analytics, was named among the 10 most innovative lawyers in the North American legal sector. With this distinction, Eigen becomes the fourth individual at the firm to receive this honor from the Financial Times, following Littler Shareholders Scott Forman and Garry Mathiason in the 2015 report and Chief Knowledge Officer Scott Rechtschaffen in 2014.
In addition to recognizing Littler as a leader in data-driven legal services, the report highlighted the firm’s efforts surrounding the U.S. Department of Labor’s changes to the “white collar” exemption overtime rules. The Littler Xmpt Toolkit, a web-based portal designed to help employers comply with the changes, was listed as “Commended” in the “Use of Technology” category. Additionally, Littler’s Workplace Policy Institute earned the same recognition in the “Changing and Influencing Regulation” category for its role in ensuring that the concerns of employers were heard throughout the rulemaking process and in influencing the final version of the rule.
“We are excited to again be recognized by the Financial Times for our longstanding dedication to innovation and our development of new approaches to solving client problems,” said Tom Bender and Jeremy Roth, co-managing directors of Littler, in a joint statement. “The top ranking for Littler’s Big Data Initiative and Zev Eigen as an innovative individual demonstrates our leadership in an area that is becoming increasingly important to employers and the legal industry. It was also gratifying to be singled out for our innovative approach to serving clients grappling with the changes to the nation’s overtime rules that were recently blocked through a preliminary injunction.”
Littler is the only labor and employment law firm represented among its categories and in the top 25 innovative firms. The rankings of the Financial Times report were based on extensive assessments and interviews, following submissions from law firms, in-house legal teams and other legal service organizations across North America.
