(February 6, 2017) – Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has elected Philadelphia Shareholder Nina Markey as co-chair of the Staffing, Independent Contractors and Contingent Workers Practice Group, serving alongside Phoenix Shareholder Neil Alexander.

Littler’s Staffing, Independent Contractors and Contingent Workers Practice Group has long supported the many companies navigating the changing nature of employment. As co-chairs of the practice group, Alexander and Markey lead the firm’s efforts in providing contingent workforce advice and representation on a variety of issues, including benefit plans, classification, wage and hour, joint employment, and more.
Markey has a litigation and counseling practice that ranges from defending against single plaintiff discrimination claims and class and collective actions to traditional labor matters. Her client roster spans a range of industries and includes Fortune 100 companies as well as closely held corporations and public entities, with particular focuses on the staffing and retail industries. She practices before state and federal courts, as well as before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights and the National Labor Relations Board.
In addition to her role as co-chair of the Staffing, Independent Contractors and Contingent Workers Practice Group, Markey serves on the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Council and is a core member of Littler’s Retail Industry Practice Group. She is also active in professional and community organizations, serving on the board for the Rutgers University School of Law Alumni Association and on the board of directors for Career Wardrobe, a nonprofit social enterprise that provides clothing and professional development to empower unemployed individuals to work.
Markey earned her J.D., with honors, from Rutgers School of Law, and her B.A. from Dartmouth College.
