SAN FRANCISCO, CA (December 16, 2011) – Lindbergh Porter, a shareholder in the San Francisco office of Littler Mendelson, P.C. (Littler), the nation’s largest employment and labor law firm representing management, has been named the University of San Francisco School of Law’s (USF) Alumnus of the Year. Since 1991, the award has recognized alumni who have distinguished themselves by their professional accomplishments, public service or service to the law school. Porter was honored by the USF during a luncheon at the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco.
“We are so proud that Lindbergh has been selected as the USF’s Alumnus of the Year,” said Jennifer J. Walt, managing shareholder of Littler’s San Francisco office. “Aside from being an extraordinarily talented attorney, he has remained deeply committed to giving back to the community, as well as the legal profession as a whole, and has always demonstrated the highest level of professional integrity. It comes as no surprise to us that he was bestowed such an honor.”
Wesley Fastiff, chairman emeritus of the board at Littler, echoed Walt’s statements about Porter, “He’s a very fine person. I can say on behalf of the firm that we’re very pleased and very proud to have him at Littler.”
At Littler, Porter represents employers in all types of employment litigation, including wage and hour, class actions, wrongful termination and discrimination. He is a member of the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee and has served on the Board of Directors and the Hiring Committee. He has represented management in more than 50 states and federal court, jury and regulatory agency trials before agencies such as the National Labor Relations Board, the Department of Labor and the Department of Fair Employment and Housing.
Porter has authored numerous articles and has spoken at employment and labor law seminars and conferences sponsored by national, state and local bar associations and industry organizations. He serves as a neutral evaluator for the United States District Court and has served as a lawyer representative to the United States Court of Appeals. He is a member of a number of professional organizations and is a faculty member of the Trial Advocacy Program at Stanford University Law School, as well as the former president of the Bar Association of San Francisco.
Throughout his career, he has received many honors recognizing his professional achievements. He has been named a Top Four Employment Attorney - San Francisco Bay Area and one of the Top 100 Most Influential Lawyers in California. Nationally recognized for his community service, Porter has received awards from the Charles Houston Bar Association and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Legal Defense Fund.
After receiving his J.D. from USF in 1981, Porter has continued to provide support to the school, and has served on the USF’s Board of Governors.
