Alaya B. Meyers represents and defends a wide range of companies and employers in all facets of labor and employment law, with a particular focus on the defense of wage and hour class action litigation and on claims and litigation under California’s Private Attorney Generals Act (PAGA). He has experience in, and has regularly defended, claims of missed meal and rest periods, unpaid wages and overtime, unpaid commissions and expenses, improper deductions and wages statements, miscalculation of pay, and many other wage and hour violations. 

Alaya also represents employers in single- and multi-plaintiff litigation in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies, including claims for discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, retaliation, and misclassification. 

Alaya additionally works closely on counseling clients of all sizes, offering advice on a number of human resources issues, such as reductions-in-force, discipline and terminations, compliance with wage and hour policies and practices, and litigation avoidance. He regularly works with clients in the retail, restaurant/casual dining, and trucking industries.

Alaya started his legal career with Littler in Los Angeles, subsequently practiced law in Chicago for a number of years, and joined the Irvine office as its fourth attorney in 2006. He remains licensed in both California and Illinois.
