Historically, Virginia has not been the center of attention when it comes to wage and hour issues. A wealth of legislation passed by the state government's Democratic trifecta in 2020, however, has dramatically altered this landscape by significantly expanding the wage and hour causes of action and remedies private plaintiffs may pursue, as well as the enforcement powers of the Commonwealth's administrative agencies.

In this fourth installment of our Virginia Fall Employment Law Mini-Series, we will look at how these laws increase Virginia employers' potential liabilities, as well as the threat of litigation and governmental enforcement actions, and what steps your organization should be taking to navigate this new wage and hour minefield.
